Rocklin, Roseville, & Lincoln, CA Advanced Veterinary Diagnostic Services
Because your pet can’t talk to us to tell us where it hurts, quick and accurate diagnostic tests are needed to determine what’s wrong. Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital has the latest technology available to assist our veterinarians in making a diagnosis so that we can begin appropriate treatment as quickly as possible. Some of these include:
- Blood tests on site with our state-of-the-art equipment to ensure accuracy
- Ultrasound imaging
- Otoscopy to thoroughly inspect your pet’s ears during deep ear canal exams
- Radiographic (X-ray) imaging
By having these diagnostic services available under our own roof, we can begin appropriate treatment of your pet promptly.
Veterinary Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging
Ultrasound is an advanced diagnostic imaging technique that is both painless and non-invasive because it uses sound waves. Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital uses this valuable diagnostic tool to get a picture of the internal organs of your pet. The computer image that is generated allows us to evaluate the internal structure of organs and can show abnormal conditions.
In your pet’s abdomen, ultrasound is particularly effective for imaging:
- Stomach
- Liver
- Spleen
- Gallbladder
- Kidneys
- Lymph nodes
- Adrenal glands
- Urinary bladder
- Pregnancy evaluations
Ultrasound can help us to detect cancer in its early stages. An ultrasound of the heart, or echocardiogram, is very valuable to check the function of your pet’s heart.

Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostic Tests
At Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital, our goal is to provide your pet with the best possible veterinary care at every stage of his or her life. Because your pet cannot explain in words if something is wrong, we must rely on:
- A complete medical history provided by you
- Comprehensive, hands-on physical examination
- Laboratory testing
We use veterinary laboratory testing for health screenings, pre-anesthetic evaluations, and to help us diagnose illnesses. Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital has an on-site clinical laboratory that provides us with the ability to perform many important blood tests. Our equipment is able to analyze many blood samples at once, saving time. In addition to blood and urine tests, we also perform fecal analyses to detect intestinal parasites.
Our ability to have results within minutes is especially valuable for pre-anesthetic testing if your pet is about to undergo surgery, as well as for evaluation of your pet if there is an emergency. Pre-anesthetic testing provides you with peace of mind, and gives us important physiological information on your pet before we give anesthesia.
Digital Radiography Has Advantages For Your Pet
We use digital radiographs, or X-rays, to evaluate and diagnose problems that affect many of the systems in your pet’s body. The teeth, abdomen, bones, heart, lungs, and spine can be examined this way. We use radiographs to help diagnose conditions such as fractured bones, pneumonia, tumors inside the body, heart enlargement, arthritis, and stones in the urinary tract.
Because these images are digital, we can increase them to very high magnification to make precise judgments and an accurate diagnosis. We also have a specialist in house twice a week to give expert analysis should that be needed.
